Lesson Plan #4 - Distance Handling (pt1)
Lesson Plan #4: Distance Handling.
Let’s face it, courses are getting bigger, and distances longer. In most cases we want our dogs to run at their speed and not at our speed. If the dogs have confidence in what is expected as they perform each obstacle, then they are much more likely to want to complete that task quickly and accurately. Even if you do not usually handle at distance, it can really help a dog's confidence to learn to work away from the handler!
4 jumps and 1 tunnel is all that is needed for this lesson plan, making it quick and easy to get straight into!
The fourth lesson plan in this exciting new series! All lesson plans are designed and written by Lee Gibson. Train at home and at your own pace. All the lesson plans use small amounts of equipment and have a maximum field dimension of 12m x 20m, meaning these small space lesson plans can be adapted for almost all smaller gardens or areas.
